As of December 1, 2023, the agent is required to provide guidelines and forms and explain their contents.
Instructions for real estate agents and brokers on how to use the RECOM online tool:
- Please visit recoinfoguide.ca to access the online tool.
- Select the button to share the ‘RECOM Information Guide’ or ‘appropriate information’ and disclose it to the self represented party.
- Fill in the required information and contact details of the consumer you want to share the guide or form with, and then click the ‘Share’ button.
- After clicking the ‘Share’ button, you will receive an email confirming that the guide or form has been shared, and consumers will receive an email with a unique link to view the guide or form. You should confirm with the consumer that they have received the email to prevent you from entering the wrong email address or mistakenly sending it directly to their ‘junk’ folder.
- Consumers will receive guidelines and/or forms that include a confirmation section. Consumer recognition is voluntary.
- Explain guidelines or tables to consumers.
If the consumer receives confirmation, an email confirming the confirmation will be sent to both the consumer and the agent.
